Sailrocket Races For World Record

16 December, 2008

Aerotrope is proud that SailRocket has become the world's fastest sailboat, by attaining an average speed of 47.36 knots! Since Chris Hornzee-Jones designed its unique wing sail, Aerotrope have continued to support SailRocket in the race to break the world speed sailing record. Aerotrope engineers have carried out the configuration design, aerodynamic and structural engineering studies to optimally match the wingsail to Malcolm Barnsley's boat design. The inclined rig concept creates stability that prevents the boat from rolling over and, when used correctly, enables SailRocket to reach record speeds. Aerotrope's team is confident that their design will ultimately assist SailRocket in officially breaking through the 50 knot barrier.
