Wind Energy
Aerotrope provides specialist design, analysis and inspection services to the wind turbine industry, focused primarily on blade technology.
Director Christopher Hornzee-Jones has worked in the wind turbine industry for 15 years and been employed in activities relating to blade design and manufacture by SP Systems (now one of the main suppliers of prepregs and resin systems to the wind industry in Europe), Carter Wind Turbines and Aerolaminates, later NEG Micon and now Vestas.
A number of projects have related to unconventional configurations including the Riva Calzoni single bladed machine and the Carter and WEG MS-4 ultra-flexible rotors. Knowledge gained with these unusual turbines has been valuable in extending the limits of conventional machine designs and developing advanced concepts for the future.
Since 1998 Christopher Hornzee-Jones has worked as an independent consultant for leading manufacturers and operators worldwide on blade design, manufacturing processes and tool design, in-service inspection and fault diagnosis.
This depth of experience is supported by analytical strength within the company, comprising conventional spreadsheet calculations, Ansys Finite Element Analysis structural and CFX Computational Fluid Dynamics capabilities.
